aconium opens its office in Albania

On 13.10.2022 aconium GmbH opened a new branch office in Tirana, the capital of Albania.

During the inauguration ceremony, aconium CEO Tim Brauckmüller and office director Henri Haxhiraj welcomed around 50 guests, including the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure and Energy of Albania, Belinda Balluku, the German Ambassador to Albania, Peter Zingraf, and other department heads and representatives of German and European institutions.

After the Albanian subsidiary was founded in June of this year, aconium has now successfully started its activity in the heart of Tirana.

The aim of aconium is to support the public sector in Albania and the other countries of the Western Balkans as a competent, independent and neutral partner in questions of digitization, energy, mobility and education and provide its assistance, relying on its expertise and many years of experience.

Future market Western Balkans

In the run-up to the establishment of the office, aconium assisted in conducting a study to analyze and determine national market potentials as part of the so-called “Berlin Process”. The process, which began in Berlin in 2014, promotes bringing the Western Balkan countries closer to the European Union and their accession to the EU, as well as intensifying regional cooperation. The study “The Digital Leap. How COVID19 Transformed the Digital Future for the Western Balkans” was conducted in cooperation with the Center for Southeast European Studies at the University of Graz under the direction of Prof. Dr. phil. Florian Bieber, aconium and other companies.

“The study has underpinned that a clear majority of the citizens in the Western Balkans would like to use online services permanently, even after the pandemic. To enable these online services, such as digital education, e-government and much more, a robust digital infrastructure is needed, also and especially in rural areas.

“We are looking forward to accompanying and supporting the progress of digitalization in the Western Balkans together with other stakeholders,” said Tim Brauckmüller, CEO of aconium GmbH.
